How to Care for a Cork Yoga Mat
A cork yoga mat care guide: how to wipe and dry a cork mat, what not to do, and how to store it out of direct sunlight so the surface and grip stay in shape.
A cork yoga mat is cared for much like any mat in our range: wipe it clean and keep it out of direct sunlight. These are the care instructions for our cork mats.
Wipe, Don't Wash
After use, wipe the mat down with a natural cleanser. Do not wash, bleach, iron or dry clean the mat — cleaning is a wipe, not a wash.
Dry Before Rolling
Ensure the mat is dry before you roll it, and lay it flat to dry when it does need drying. Rolling a damp mat is one of the easy mistakes that shortens a mat's life.
Storage and Light
Store the mat out of direct sunlight. Cork is fade-resistant, but keeping the mat out of direct sun when it is stored helps preserve its appearance. Note that colour may change over time.
First Use and Rolling
A new mat will have a slight smell that fades over time — unroll it and let it air out before first use. To preserve the mat's appearance, roll it with the graphics facing out.
