How to Care for Your Yoga Mat: PU Cleaning and Storage Guide
Keep a PU yoga mat clean and in good condition: why body oils can stain it, how to clean it safely, plus ventilation, storage, odor and temperature care.
This guide covers how to keep a PU yoga mat clean, dry and in good condition.
Fear of Oil
The surface of the PU yoga mat has fine pores that enable fast drying, yet it is prone to staining, including from body oils.
To reduce the risk of contamination and avoid contact with oily substances on the surface, ensure your hands and feet are clean and free of oil before use.
Cleaning
Please do not use cleaning products that contain tea tree oil or any oily ingredients.
We recommend using a container with clean water plus one drop of detergent. Dampen a cloth, wring out excess water, wipe the surface, then leave it to air dry fully.
Do not submerge the mat or leave liquid residue on the yoga mat surface.
Ventilation
After cleaning or use, place the mat in a cool, well-ventilated area to air dry naturally.
This yoga mat is made of natural rubber. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent shortening the product lifespan.
Storage
Roll up the mat with the logo side facing outwards for storage, to prevent wrinkles and damage.
Do not fold the mat for storage.
About Odor
New yoga mats may have a slight initial smell. We have not added any artificial fragrances to mask it; this is the natural odor of rubber, eco-friendly and harmless. Please use it with confidence.
The smell will gradually fade with use. If you are sensitive to the odor, lay the mat flat to air out for a period of time.
About Temperature
In winter when temperatures drop, do not place the mat near heat sources for long periods (e.g. heated floors, stoves, etc.) to prevent aging, sticking and impairment of normal use.
